An Ill Wind
On The Thames

Something lurks in the streets of Borough.

Is it hope?

London, in an age of wonder and squalor. Skeletal fingers of the new Tower Bridge reach across the Thames, while a world-first technology burrows beneath its foetid waters. A once-grand church lies crumbling and as the tide swells, so too does the scourge of sin.

A self-appointed priestess in the new religion of Spiritualism wields strange powers, and offers a chance to speak with the dearly departed. Is she truly the charlatan you have been led to believe?

An Ill Wind on the Thames is a Cthulhu by Gaslight scenario set in Southwark, taking in the swarming Borough Market and the Pool of London, the busiest stretch of water in the world. It is a story of corrupted ambition, revenge against prejudice, and lost souls exploited by an ancient force bent on London’s destruction.

Content advice: This scenario includes, but in no way condones, Victorian attitudes to gender, class, disability and race. It is the response to this prejudice that motivates some of the NPCs’ actions. There are also occurrences of sex, suicide, substance addiction and body horror.
